Well, the snow melted yesterday.  But our temps are still

very cold, for this time of year.  So there is no wish (on

my part) to go outside.   But I do have a wish, to begin

sewing again.  So....  That's the plan....

Btw, I am not finding post topics, of late.  My muse has 

fled.  Gone on a holiday.  Or something.  -sigh-  Oh I

think of some things, but either they sound boring...

 Or they sound divisive.  -sigh-

It makes me wonder if it's so, that "Blogging Is Dead" 

yet again?????

Our social media ego...

Something that has been nagging at my mind, of late, is what is called our social media ego.

.

A search, brought up this article... "Social Media, the ego, and the self".   Naturally I would love for you to click on that link and read it yourself.  Also naturally, I have no idea how much time or inclination you have, to do so.  So I'll grab some thoughts from it.

.

If you are blogging, you are in social media.  Most of us are in more than one kind of social media.  For me it's just blogging and IG. 

.

"The phrase “social networking” itself contains the basic elements of relating and technology; the technology is the “network” and the social is the human bit. We use technology to do human things: to relate."

.

"The word "self" is the wider concept, and is inclusive of everything that comes together to create a self..."

.

The "ego" is more discrete.  It is the part of us that identifies as “I” or “me” – it is  .......... our conscious “identity” how we understand ourselves; it is also the part of us that defends us from slights and hurts."

.

"The self seeks recognition from others ......... – the ego, however, likes its recognition to be conditional upon its own expectations and desires."

.

Our ego needs recognition, and social media can meet this need, via...

Number of Followers
Number of Comments
Number of 'Likes'
.

When our ego gets recognition, it is called getting strokes. "...every time your ego receives recognition, it purrs just a little, as if it’s been stroked."...

.

"...and when it doesn’t get the strokes it thinks it needs, it can feel pretty bad."

Have you ever considered how much you have invested, in the recognition you get, from social media?

Allllllll about "commenting"........

I do realize that I am a No Reply Blogger.  But I am choosing to remain so, at least for awhile.

.

Let me explain my way of blogging.  ~~~~  If people come and leave a comment in my blog, I go and read/comment in their blog.

.

I do not send "email replies" to all who comment in my blog.  Feeling that my reciprocal reading/commenting in their blogs, is sufficient.  

 .

Nor do I expect anyone else, to do this "email-replies"-to-all-who-comment-in-their-blog.

.

And, I do not reply, in my blog comments, to the comments made on my blog.  This expects people to return to a blog, for a 2nd time, to see the blogger's return comments.  Who has time to do that????  Not I.

.

My feeling....  If you appreciate comments on your blog, go leave a comment, on the blog's, of your commenters.

My Frosted Rose....

I took this photo, years ago.  By some chance, it came out in quite a beautiful way.

I don't keep many pictures I have taken.  But this one, I have kept, for years.  I just love it.  :-)

It is small by my blogging standards of today.  So I couldn't use it, in my Banner, until I learned to center my Banner pictures.

I learned.  I can do it now.  And I did.

Not an earth-shattering post topic.  But, I wanted to say it.  And I did.

Did you notice, that I have centered my Header/Banner picture?  Even though it is not as wide as the Header/Banner area?  Yes I did!   And I have been wanting to know how to do this, for ever so long.

Forgetting new plans... -sigh-

This blog was begun, after I had burned out, on my last blog.  After I had backed myself into so many corners, on my old blog.  But I needed a place to write, etc.

So.....  "a writing place" was born.

And it has been helpful.  I am again having fun with my 'blog look.'  And no longer have a very wide blog, with excessively wide posted photos.  And I did not want to get into counting comments or visits to my blog, or etc.  I wanted to put all that old stuff, behind me.

December 26th...

Solstice, Yule, Christmas, Full Long Night Moon, or Full Yule Moon....   All have passed.  No snow or cold weather here, which is very, very unusual.  But no worries about falling on ice, is quite lovely.

It isn't the New Year yet...  But I'm feeling like posting something here.  As a beginning...

Still don't know where this blog will 'go'.  Other than, it needs to be a place, where I don't 'paint myself into corners.'  This happens to me, easily.  But not again.  (I hope!!!)  ...

.

Seems a blog should be a place, where we can put photos and words, of our own choosing.  Trying not to be purposely offensive.  But also, not being hemmed in, by having differing opinions.  ~~~   Yes, that sounds like a *Mission Statement*!  -grin-
