And he has gone to work, for a couple of hours, in the family drug store. He doesn't have to. He wants to. It gets him down in the center of town, on the Big Opening Day.

just to enjoy the atmosphere of the day.
I hope it's cooler there than it is here because the horses would easily die of heat exhaustion!
it's 100 degrees again today with the humidity so high that the indexes will easily reach 115. running full out in that would be a death sentence for man OR beast!
