1. Only Female Mosquitoes Bite
   

   There are about 3,500 species of the little vampires, and they can be found in virtually every part of the world. But not all mosquitoes look upon you as a delicious meal. While both male and female mosquitoes feed on nectar and plant sap as their nutrition source, only female mosquitoes need blood for egg production.

2. Mosquitoes Prefer Darker Colors
   

   Black might be slimming, but if you're trying to avoid mosquitoes, best to opt for lighter-colored clothing as they can be attracted to darker colors.

3. Mosquitoes Do Prefer to Bite Some People Over Others
   

   If you keep getting bit while those around you don’t, it may be because the flying pests are attracted to the body chemistry of some people over others. Chemicals such as carbon dioxide, which is emitted when you breathe out, and lactic acid, an element found in sweat, attract mosquitoes.

4. A Full Moon Makes Mosquitoes More Active
   

   Werewolves, zombies… and mosquitoes? Yep, the full moon can be blamed for many strange occurrences both real and imagined. Scientists have never actually seen a real-life zombie, but they do know mosquitoes exist— and that a full moon can increase mosquito activity 500 percent!

5. Mosquitoes Need Only One Tablespoon of Water to Breed
   

   Mosquitoes prefer to lay their eggs in still or stagnant water or wet earth, and they only require a small bit of water to do so. In fact, for development, the immature stages of some types of mosquitoes only need a tablespoon of water to breed, an amount that can easily collect in old tires, children's wading pools, holes in trees, bird baths, saucers underneath plants—even a bottle cap.

Violets... And a change... :-)

Our grand son cut our lawns, yesterday.  But these didn't get cut.  Because they are along a rock edging.  :-)  So glad, because,  I hate to lose my violets.

We don't drink much.  We love our glass of wine, in the evening.  And our Manhattans on Saturday night.

But!  After he was in hospital, with pancreatic attack, that has to change.  There are 2 causes of pancreatic trouble .  Gall Bladder, and his has been out, for years.  And consumption of alcohol.

So.... No more drinking at all.  If he had to stop, I have stopped too.

And that is why you see the jolly bottle of Sparkling Cider above!  -grin-  Not gonna' be like wine or a Manhattan.  But it will have to do.  :-)))))  Health is more important.

LOVELY weekend.......

Father and son, chatting over the back fence, on a lovely Saturday morning...

Our grandson, the "squirrel whisperer"...  :-)   This baby squirrel became attached to him.  Crawling up to his shoulders and sitting there, watching the world go by.  When he put the baby squirrel down, it would follow him...

Later, the baby squirrel went to Animal Rescue. 

They already are trying to keep a nest of surviving baby rabbits safe.  Until it's silly mother, takes them away.  -sigh-

All this, with their own dog!!!!

I grabbed an iron rake, and dug/pulled up the matted dirt and weed roots, which were covering some of the bricks, on our old back patio!  You can see the process, in the above photo.

And here are results!  I have more to dig/pull up.  And need to sweep or hose the dirt away.  But this is an accomplishment!  Bringing our old patio bricks and rocks back out, into the sun!  :-)

Air War Games going on, again this morning.  Good thing!!!!  With all the provocation, we are getting, from our enemies!!!

Now, if only we had a Commander In Chief, who had the guts, to act like a man.  Instead of to just wander around, with his nose in the air, and his head, in the clouds.
